This is a brief demonstration of ALLOut’s tools for upgrading JD Edwards menus. Solution Explorer is the primary navigation tool in E1. When we talk about menus, we’re usually talking about Solution Explorer task views. The task views should be an organized listing of all programs, providing an orderly way for users to navigate to the programs they need. ALLOut has several tools to help you achieve your menu upgrading or restructuring objectives.
There’s a tool to copy task views or tasks. This enables you to quickly copy and replace or append tasks and/or relationships based on task view or task prefix. There’s a tool to delete tasks or entire task views. Mask deletions can be done based on task view, task prefix, unused tasks, and user favorites. When making large-scale changes, it might make sense to export the task view and manage the changes in Excel or ALLOut’s StartOut tool. The interactive screen can be used to set filters and options before submitting the UBE.
A new task view can easily be created by uploading it from StartOut or Excel, whether using StartOut, an earlier menu extract, or your own Excel spreadsheet. The entire task view or sections of the task view can be built outside of JD Edwards then uploaded. Using this grid, tasks can also be uploaded without task relationships. This grid enables you to upload tasks to be used later. Many filtering can provide a cleaner task fee for the users, and ALLOut can help with those changes as well.
There’s a UBE to hide folders when security has blocked access to all of the programs. Inside this cleanup, UBE can be configured to create or delete menu filtering records for one or multiple task views and roles. In addition, new menu filtering records can be uploaded from StartOut or Excel. If cleanup requires mass deletion of menu filtering, there’s a UBE for deleting menu filtering by user or role, and a UBE to delete orphan security and menu filtering records. As objects change, this tool can be used to maintain or inquire on the JD Edwards object librarian. Finally, these tools can help streamline the creation of new E1 versions.
